Sabine County is home to two of America's most popular black bass fishing lakes, Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. Both lakes are surrounded in part by the lush green of the Angelina National Forest or the Sabine National Forest, giving the view from either lake a pristine horizon of tall pines and sturdy hardwoods.

Managing these two lakes and the surrounding woodlands falls to several governing bodies including the Sabine River Authority, Texas Parks & Wildlife, US Forest Service, and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The fishing doesn't stop with bass though. These two legendary lakes are also home to other species of sought after fish including bream, catfish, crappie (white perch), striper, and white bass.

Additionally, the lakes are home to a number of species of both game and protected birds including a variety of waterfowl and our National Bird, the Bald Eagle. And the forests are full of game animals including deer, hog, turkey, and other wildlife.

The action doesn't stop with fishing and hunting either. These two lakes and the surrounding forests are also great for birding, camping, hiking, and water/outdoor sports of all kinds.

Sabine County has been called "Best of all places" and with good reason; beauty, history, hospitality, it's all here!
